Chiropractic Care in New York City Is Not Just A Trend
Did you know that chiropractic care actually dates back centuries? In fact, it was Hippocrates, the famous Green physician, who said, “Get knowledge of the spine, for this is a requisite for many diseases.”
Dating back even farther than Hippocrates, ancient writings from China, circa 2700 BC have been found mentioning spinal manipulation to ease lower back pain.
How did Chiropractic Care in New York City Come About?
While Aristotle and the ancient Chinese had their hand at it, chiropractic care didn’t come about until Daniel David Palmer discovered that “hand treatments” could create amazing effects on health. Palmer was born in Ontario Canada in 1845, but moved to the United States at the age of 20. He coined the term chiropractic care — from the Greek words, Chiro, meaning (hand) and practic, meaning (practice or operation). He also developed the philosophy behind chiropractic care, which now forms the foundation for the profession.
Palmer went through many trials and tribulations before he was able to convince the country that chiropractic care was safe and helpful, but he prevailed. From 1906 to 1913, D.D. he published the books, “The Science of Chiropractic” and “The Chiropractors Adjuster,” and started a university. Eventually the country caught on to the effectiveness and holistic nature of chiropractic care.
Without Daniel David Palmer, Dr. Jerry Greenberg would not be practicing chiropractic care in New York City today.
